St. Karen’s Collegiate School, Patna, celebrated Earth Day with a meaningful assembly based on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” emphasizing our shared responsibility towards the environment.
The assembly featured a Prayer, Thought, Speech, and Oath, where students pledged to care for the Earth. The message was beautifully conveyed through a choir performance, skit, poem, and Word of the Day. A special highlight was the trash auditing survey, where students learned to categorize waste and adopt practices of reducing and reusing materials. The programme concluded with a quiz, news segment, and an inspiring address by the Principal and the Vice Principal.
To mark the occasion, various activities were conducted across classes. Students of Std. 6 took a Green Pledge and created awareness posters, while kindergarten students engaged in colourful art activities and watered plants. Students also practiced responsible waste management by placing food waste into biodegradable bins for composting.
On the occasion of Earth Day, students of the Eco Club from Classes 8, 9, and 10 were also taken on a biodiversity walk around the school campus. During this enriching experience, they observed and recorded a variety of bird species, including the Brown Rockchat, Common Myna, Collared Dove, Indian Roller, Black Drongo, Pond Heron, Paddyfield Pipit, Black-shouldered Kite, Red-wattled Lapwing, Spotted Owlet, Rufous Treepie, Jungle Babbler, and Plain Prinia. They also spotted butterflies, garden lizards, and frogs, gaining a deeper appreciation for the rich biodiversity within their surroundings.
The celebration reinforced the importance of small, mindful actions in building a sustainable future.
