SKCS READING FESTIVAL WEEK DAY 3
Description: The day began with the assembly, theme - 'A book is a dream that you hold in your hand. The students shared creative insights in the life of famous authors and some fun facts. The different activities that followed were: - 'We write our own poetry' - A self composed poetry presentation by the students of STD 7 was presented to start the day's fun activities. - 'We write our own stories' - Another session where the students shared wonderful narratives that were products of their imagination. - Let's be our favourite character - A pair activity where the students dressed up as their favourite character and presented excerpts written according to their imagination. Eg Harry Potter and JK Rowling, Snowhite and the Huntsman, Cinderella and the Fairy God Mother, Maleficent and more. - The Author I Wanna Be - The students dressed as their favourite author told their life stories and achievements. - My little puppet: The students of junior classes together made hand puppets of their favourite characters. - ⁠Story telling session was organised for std 1&2 students. - Quotation Graffiti: Graffitis was created in all the sections of std 4 and 5 as a library activity, where the students wrote down their favourite quotations. - Book Talk: Std 6 conducted Book Talks like class activities where students came up and read some lines followed by discussion. - The students of STD 8 to 10 began the day with the morning assembly which explored the different genres of literature. They read excerpts from books from different genres to incite other students to read and explore the wide array of books available in the school library - It was also a day to unleash imagination and weave stories. 'The Narrative Odyssey' a story writing competition was organised where the selected students were divided into seven groups: The Story Spinners The Plot Pioneers The Word Wizards The Fiction Fanatics The Creative Chronicles The Word Weavers The Prose Pioneers Each group was given a random story Prompt and genre and they worked in pairs to create exciting stories. This competition fostered creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills among students. By working together to write stories, students not only developed their writing abilities but also learnt to work as a team. - The highlight of the day was An Article Reading by our Supervisor of Schools Mrs Shefali Srivastava for the students of STD 8. It was an insightful session for our students, we are very grateful to her to come and be a part of our exciting reading festival 'Once upon a time..' The magic continues...
